Submitting Regional Resolutions & Amendments for Consideration by the Regional Convention Delegates.png

The Process

NEBLSA members are encouraged to participate in shaping the organization’s governance and initiatives by submitting proposed amendments to the NEBLSA Constitution or resolutions. To begin, review the NEBLSA Constitution and bylaws to ensure your proposal aligns with the organization’s mission and objectives. It is important to understand the difference between an amendment, which is a formal change to governing documents, and a resolution, which is a formal statement or decision expressing NEBLSA’s stance or intent.

Next, draft your proposal using the official NEBLSA Proposed Changes & Resolutions Submission Form. Your submission should include the title of your proposal, the specific section of the Constitution being amended (if applicable), the exact text of the proposed change or resolution, the rationale behind it, and any supporting documents or evidence. Complete the submission form and send it by January 6, 2025. Please note that each proposed amendment or resolution must be submitted individually. Submissions can be made NEBLSA Proposed Governing Document Changes & Resolutions Submission Form or emailed to neblsa.parliamentarian@nblsa.org with the subject line: "NEBLSA Proposed Amendment/Resolution Submission."

All submissions will be reviewed by the NEBLSA Parliamentarian and the Constitution & Resolutions Committee to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines. If additional clarification is needed, the Parliamentarian may contact the proposer. Proposals submitted on time will be presented at the 57th Annual NEBLSA Convention during scheduled plenary sessions. Proposers (or their designated representatives) may be asked to present or defend their submissions during plenary discussions.

Delegates will debate and vote on each proposal during the plenary sessions. Approved amendments will be incorporated into the Constitution and implemented in the following year, while approved resolutions will guide NEBLSA’s actions or initiatives for the specified period. Once adopted, all amendments and resolutions will be officially documented and implemented by the incoming NEBLSA leadership team. For more information, contact Tia, NEBLSA 57th Parliamentarian, at neblsa.parliamentarian@nblsa.org, or Akia, NEBLSA 57th Chair, at neblsa@nblsa.org. NEBLSA values your active engagement and commitment to the organization’s growth and success!
